CinemaDNG out in the wild…

Adobe has finally gotten round to tailoring their digital negative (DNG) format for digital cinema.

It seems to be aimed at digital camera manufacturers rather than digital intermediate workflow, and at first glance doesn’t really offer anything that say, OpenEXR already provides. There’s already something of a format war going on, what with R3D set-top boxes and the like, and Adobe seems to be late to the party. It really makes me wonder who they think will be using it.
